The Flower Rule

We all know the hype in today's society about finding your "special someone". Then it leads to getting into a relationship so fast and the next thing you know, there's something wrong. Now I'm not saying all relationships are like this or that a problem isn't fixable. I just find it more often than not, younger people rush.

The real question is, why in the world would you want rush something that's so special? Being that I've only rushed into things twice, I can tell you it's the feeling of pressure and wanting to "just get it over with". Trust me, that is not the attitude you want when you go into a relationship or choose to really like someone. If anything goes hay-wire it hurts A LOT more.

So how can one avoid this?

1. Start by just saying no to giving into society pressures and listen to what you want. Trust me, you have desires and wants already. There's no reason to settle for less.

2. Never, EVER, just jump into a relationship when you're alarm is going off. It's your instincts telling you something huge and you should listen to them.

3. Follow the rule of dating or what I like to call it, the Flower Rule. It's a more fancy way of describing the rule of dating. It's also more of a guideline than a rule.

The Flower Rule: When your relationship is in the early stages, it's like a fragile flower. You want it to blossom into a garden before it becomes a field.

What does this mean?

Flower stage: Just started dating. Take it slow. Act like you're caring for most delicate and rarest flower. Typically first 6 months of your relationship.

Garden stage: Around the time when a couple decides to take their relationship to the next level (ex: promise ring, engagement, etc...). Typically 6 months to 1 yr of a relationship.

Field stage: Engagement or marriage. Typically 1+ years of a relationship.

Obviously the decision of how long you take to each stage is completely up to you, but I highly recommend following these guidelines. I mean, we all want to marry our best friend and friendships develop over time.
