Apartment Searching: College Edition

Hello Sunshines!

We all hear about the stresses of moving out and making sure you choose the RIGHT place for you, but what does this look like in college? Well I'm here to enlighten you on what the experience was like for me.

Now my list definitely did not entail nothing, but who doesn't love a good Spongebob gif? :)

As most of you guessed, it all started with lists and tons of research. Here's a few tips and things I did to help the process.

1. List of things I wanted with the apartment (ie: laundry facilities, utilities, pets allowed, etc..).

2. I used rentcollegepads.com, apartments.com, and other websites to help research places close to my college campus.

3. Made a list of at least 5 places and then went over it with my roommate and parents.

4. Called each location and set up a tour. This definitely helped narrow down the list and help give the feel of the location.

5. Pros/Cons list of each place. Right after our tour, my roommate and I took a few minutes to conjure up a list of things we loved and didn't love, that way we can pick a lot quicker.

6. Take pictures of the showroom. (Check out my photos below.)

Overall, the process was long and stressful. We toured 10 places in exactly 2 days. The last place we toured ended up being our favorite location. The last piece of advice I have for you is to not count any place out until you see it and to not settle until you find the place you like the most.
